Commercial boaters are usually the first to abandon the harbor because their boats are vital to their livelihood.
In the case of pleasure boats, unless the owners live in the area, or have previous arrangements with friends or by contract, their boats are left to the battering waves.
Most boats are brought to the back bays or to the safety of nearby canals in Pass Christian Isles or Timber Ridge.
